New Ski Link between Super-Chatel & Linga   August 15th, 2014

It’s been talked about for almost 20 years but work is finally under way to link up the Super-Chatel and Linga pistes. There will be two new chairlifts located at the top of the village just passed Lac Vonnes, one heading up to Super-Chatel and the other heading over to link up with the Linga pistes.

Super-Chatel to Lac Vonnes

Vonne Linga ski linkAs you can see from this image there will be a new 1500 meter blue piste coming from Super-Chatel down to Lac Vonnes which will be fitting with snow cannons.
The chairlift will be the 4-person high speed detachable type, and some of you may even have ridden this exact same chair before because it is coming from the Proclou in Avoriaz which is being upgraded to a 6-person lift this summer.

Lac Vonnes to Linga

Linga - Chatel link piste mapHeading over in the other direction towards Linga there will be no new piste, you’ll need to ride the chair in both directions to link up with the existing blue piste.

This chair is also reusing some old equipment, the 4-person Plaine  Dranse chair from the Pré-la-Joux area. Which was made pretty much redundant a couple of years ago with the upgrade of the Rochasson chair. This is only an old style non-detachable chair so you’ll have plenty of time to admire the views across Chatel village !

This blue piste link to the Linga area did used to be a little locals secret as there was parking for a dozen or so cars at the end of road and you can ski straight to the Linga gondola. But I don’t think that’ll be an option anymore!

Great Benefits

There are multiple benefits to Chatel resort from this new development

  • Linking the Super-Chatel and Linga areas gives people much more freedom to explore each ski area and easily ski between them. Previously people coming from the Avoriaz direct and heading to Super-Chatel needed to take the shuttle bus and walk up to the gondola but now it’ll be much more fun to ski directly between the two areas.
  • Reduce the demand on the shuttle buses, many less people should now need to take bus from Pré-la-Joux to Chatel. Which should reduce the congestion that often occured at the start and finish of the day.
  • People staying at the Lac Vonnes end of the village will now be able to walk to/from the lifts, whilst others will only need quick shuttle bus to the village centre.

We hope to see you out here next season to experience our new link
